About Me
I am currently undertaking my undergraduate studies at RMIT University. As a student who is majoring in Accountancy and a minor in Business Information Systems, my passion for these fields is reflected through my studies. As an eager and motivated third year student I have thoroughly enjoyed theoretical aspect of university studies. My experiences at Coles as a Co-Op student and Chartered Accountants as a Student Ambassador have provided me with valuable understanding of large organisational processes. Furthermore, through specific tasks I have acquired diligence and interpersonal skills as I have completed multiple projects. In addition, my extra-curricular activity experience is extensive and broad. This has stemmed from enjoying new experiences and the challenge of successfully fulfilling my role in different environments. These activities range from being a Student Ambassador and Student Advisory Learning Mentor at RMIT University and Director of Events at RMIT Business Students Association, tutoring fellow students at SLAMS, playing football at representative level and travelling extensively to learn the broad aspect of cultural and geographical impact of financial decisions of individuals and organisations. Lastly, the leadership, teamwork and emotional intelligence that have come from undertaking these diverse activities will translate well into a workplace and fast track my development. This, and my intense enthusiasm and passion will be a great asset to any organisation willing to offer employment opportunities. |
Reason for choosing the four year Degree
I have opted to study the four year degree for one a number of reasons, which include:
The Co-Operative Placement Year - a. it provides us with sufficient time (10 moths in my placement) to implement and observe elements of workplace while having the opportunity to implement theoretical knowledge from first two year of University studies. b. most employers offering co-op placement, do so with the intention of retaining the candidate as Graduate employee upon completion of university studies. This takes a lot of burden of my shoulders as the final year can be spent peacefully knowing that a graduate position is waiting at the end of the year. With competitive Australian job market, it's difficult to obtain a graduate job without prior experience in Commerce, the Co-Op year gives me the ability to stand out to a potential employer over other candidates for a position. c. to be able to use the earnings from the placement to reduce the HECS debt would be financially beneficial. |
