Goal 2 - Work towards obtaining a Graduate Position
During WIL 1, I assisted in the Customisation of the header (left of screen) to include Coles logo, team member name and red theme.
To continue progression towards achieving this goal, I sought advise from my mentor who is a previous Intern and current Graduate Chlesey, she advised me that Tell Coles (an application that is used to obtain customer satisfaction about various aspects of shopping at Coles stores through an online survey) is a great insight tool to obtain customer views and discuss those relevant points during meetings to catch the attention of senior managers and prove that I’d be a great candidate to retain as a graduate.
A recent example of this was: During August, myself and a couple of my team members were in a meting with Liquor operations team in regards to fast moving stock and slow moving stock in stores located in QLD, prior to this meeting I found some customer feedback on Tell Coles regarding stores in QLD, some of the facts i noted include:
- Small store sizes in Cairns and Gold Coast region meant that only popular brands like: Heineken, Carlton Draught and VB were stocked on a regular basis and many customers stated that limited or no stock of craft beers was available, I mentioned this fact pointing to Liquorland Palm Beach (Gold Coast) and First Choice Southport. I stated due to seasonal wave of tourists during the summer season caused fluctuations and advised more accurate stock reordering levels to be established during winter months when demands fluctuates a bit more compared to summer.
Through this interaction, I further expressed that I have a through understanding how the business operates and that I would be a valuable employee when offered a graduate position.
Result: Toward the end of my placement I was contacted by HR and advised that they were pleased with my efforts during my placement and that my application for Graduate program would be fast tracked to the final stage (i.e.assessment centre).
